From the Front Porch: Mental Renewal

With all the distractions we face each day in our fast-paced culture,  it’s  easy for us to lose our focus on the things that we know will make us successful.  Whether it’s taking time for spiritual and mental renewal, leaving work on time, exercising, eating properly prepared, nutritious food or spending time with our families, we often begin doing things that are good for us only to become distracted and lose focus.

At some point every day, take time to reflect on the important things in your life. Refuse to allow distractions to creep in and alter your focus. This often takes a great deal of mental effort and self-discipline, but it’s all part of what author Stephen Covey says keeping “the main thing the main thing”.  (Stephen R. Covey, The 7 Habits of  Highly Effective People).
